Rockingham County Board OKs Shooting Range

Posted: Updated:

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - Officials in Rockingham County have cleared the way for a shooting range west of Harrisonburg.

The county Board of Supervisors approved a special-use permit request last week.  The Daily News-Record reports Raymond Lilly wants to open Thunderbird Training Academy. The private facility would use certified trainers to teach the safe use of firearms.

The facility will be barred from operating on Sundays.

Board Supervisor Fred Eberly said at a meeting last week he visited the proposed site and was satisfied with its setup.
