Religion students from Mary Baldwin College shared an experience from African-American history with the Staunton community Sunday afternoon.
They reenacted a religious service from the antebellum period in the sanctuary of Staunton's Allen Chapel AME Church.
The "Slave Praise House Service" was a way for slaves to worship on their own.
“This is special because this is the foundation of the modern black church that we see today,” said Mary Baldwin student Aaleyah Joe.
The service included praising, dancing, and singing.
