Monticello's Saturdays in the Garden workshop series is giving visitors a taste of Thomas Jefferson's table.
The president's home hosted a vinegar-making workshop Saturday where guests learned it's more than just "sour wine".
They tasted different varieties and found out how to create their own concoctions to use in preparing meat and vegetables.
Monticello's winemaker and master chef, Gabriele Rausse, brought some of his own batch of vinegar from Italy.
“I was raised using vinegar at home going to the attic of my house getting a bottle of vinegar out of a barrel which was there,” he said.
Vinegar was an integral ingredient in Jefferson family recipes.
The next workshop at Monticello will be on wreathmaking for the Christmas season. Those start December 1.For more information, click here.
