RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The Richmond-based organization ChildFund International is celebrating its 75th anniversary.
Started in 1938 by a Presbyterian minister, ChildFund now supports 18.1 million children in 30 countries, including the U.S.
The organization is promoted by a familiar face, television star Sally Struthers. Her message is simple.
For 70 cents a day - or the cost of a cup of coffee in the 1980s - you could help feed and clothe a child in developing countries.
Once known as the Christian Children's Fund, the name changed to ChildFund International when it merged with sister organizations in 2009.
