UVA Brings Therapy Dogs to Medical Library

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -

The University of Virginia gave its medical students a welcome break from studying Friday. Therapy dogs came to UVA's Medical Library to relieve some stress and spread some love.

One owner says her dog has a special intuition and can tell which students need her the most. The idea behind all of this is to let students know the school cares about their mental health.

"It's definitely a nice privilege to be invited to this and bring my dog. I know a lot of these students just from our time together in the classroom and in wards, and it's fun to share such an important part of my life with everyone else here today,” said Richie Roberts, who also brought his dog along.

The university also provided cookies and coffee for students to enjoy.
