First TEDx Event Held at Paramount Theater in Cville

Posted: Updated:

Hundreds converged Friday at the Paramount Theater for the first TEDx event in Charlottesville.  More than 20 speakers and musicians captivated a packed audience at the all-day event with their experiences and enthusiasm.

The audience listened to musicians and speakers discuss "ideas worth spreading" - the slated topic. They each come from different backgrounds and shared personal messages from their hearts.

One spoke about living with AIDS and conquering the worldwide epidemic. Another talked about finishing items on his bucket list.

Zoe Romano, the first person to run the Tour De France on foot, also spoke.

“After finishing the running in France you gain a certain perspective. One of the big questions I always get is why I would do something like that, and to me, it's enough to say I wanted to do that because it would be really hard and I wanted to see what I could learn,” said Romano.

Romano spoke about being brave enough to explore new challenges.

TEDx Charlottesville is an offshoot of TED, a nonprofit that brings together technology, entertainment and design by uniting speakers and volunteers.
