CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -

An associate dean at the University of Virginia facing child porn charges has waived his right to a preliminary hearing. Now, the federal case will head to a grand jury.

Michael Morris is facing at least one count of distributing or receiving child pornography. He waived his right to the hearing in federal court in Charlottesville Thursday.

Court documents allege Morris logged on to a child porn site nearly 200 times between January and October at his home in Crozet. He is also accused of accessing a child porn sharing site at least once using his UVA email address.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says he must be indicted within 30 days of his arrest.

Morris is currently being held without bond at Central Virginia Regional Jail.
