UVa Soccer Teams Continuing Postseason Play Friday
The Virginia women's soccer team will open up play in the NCAA tournament Friday night, as the Cavaliers take on St. Francis at Klockner Stadium.
UVa has a record of 20-1, and are the tournaments top overall seed.
The #1-ranked Wahoos are making their 20th straight NCAA appearance.
St. Francis will be playing in the postseason for just the second time in program history.
The Red Flash boast the nation's leading scorer in Tesa McKibben, but Virginia is the highest scoring team.
UVa head coach Steve Swanson says, "I think the #1 seed is great, because we're at home, but you can just throw that out too. I think soccer is just that way. These are all good teams now. I think the big thing about getting the #1 seed, which we wanted, is we're home."
Virginia and St. Francis will play Friday at seven o'clock at Klockner Stadium.
The 10th-ranked Virginia men's soccer team will take on top-ranked Notre Dame in the ACC semifinals Friday in Maryland.
The Cavaliers are in the semi's for the sixth year in row, and the 25th time in the last 27 years.
UVA has never lost to the Irish.
The teams will square off Friday at 5:30 pm.
