Public Hearing Held on Augusta’s 6-Year Improvement Plan

People in the valley got an update on current transportation projects Thursday, as well as a peek at what is coming down the road.

The Commonwealth Transportation Board spoke about the six-year improvement plan at a public hearing in Verona Thursday night, but also took feedback on issues that need attention. Augusta County Supervisor Larry Wills expressed gratitude for the work on Exit 91 and the pending project at Indian Mound Road and Route 612.

But he also had some items to add to the list.

"The widening of Route 42 toward Buffalo Gap from Staunton, because of the traffic, the buses and everything else and also the travel out to the prison. We're also asking them to look at 250 and 42 around Churchville just to do some alignment things there,” Wills said.

The upcoming six-year improvement plan is expected in the spring.
