A 37-year-old Culpeper man stands charged with the rape of a 23-year-old Orange County woman early this morning.
Culpeper police charged Andres Garcia Morales, of the 400 block of James Madison Highway, with rape.
Shortly after midnight, Officer Jeff O’Neill was dispatched to a disturbance call at the trailer park in the 400 block of James Madison Highway. The officer heard what sounded like a woman in distress inside the trailer.
Once inside, the officer conducted a preliminary investigation and arrested Morales.
Detective Sgt. Jeff Dodson and Detective Brittany Jenkins responded to the trailer park. Sgt. Dodson collected evidence at the scene and Det. Jenkins accompanied the victim to a hospital for a physical examination and treatment for minor injuries.
Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office Detective Maria Rodriguez responded to assist as an interpreter in the questioning of Morales.
