Breweries and home brewers in Charlottesville are supporting the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank by hosting a can collection this weekend.
Thursday, Beer Run got a head start in Homebrew for Hunger, which will take place in Charlottesville November 9 and in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, November 16. For every two cans of food customers bring in, Beer Run is offering $1 off a drink of their choice.
"This time of year, you want to be thankful for what you have and realize that there's other people that don't have as much as some of us are lucky to have. So it's a fun event that 100 percent of the proceeds go to helping people who are hungry,” said Josh Hunt, co-owner of Beer Run.
You can stop by Beer Run until 11 p.m. to drop off cans.
Saturday's event is a beer tasting at Fifth Season on Preston Avenue and it begins at 5 p.m.
