Fluvanna County sheriff’s deputies are putting away their razors this month for a good cause. They're bringing awareness to prostate cancer, which causes the most deaths of any cancer for men.
This year, they've also pledged to collect one can of food per person for every day they don't shave. They'll donate those cans to a Fluvanna food pantry at the end of November.
"They see us with the beards, but with the health and wellness, but we can tag along with it the concept of giving back to the community by doing a canned food drive,” said Sheriff Ryant Washington.
If you would like to help the food drive, you can stop by the Sheriff's Office. There’s a drop-off for the public in the front hall.
