Staunton, Augusta, Waynesboro Work on Transportation Plan
A big chunk of the valley has joined the ranks of Charlottesville and Harrisonburg, having gathered enough people to form a metropolitan planning organization. It takes 50,000 people to form one.
The Staunton, Augusta, and Waynesboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (SAW MPO) is working on a long-range transportation plan. A public meeting in Fishersville Wednesday night highlighted its main focus: safe and efficient transportation for people and goods.
SAW MPO planners say it lends a unified voice to the area's transportation priorities.
"We come up with the regional vision,” said SAW MPO transportation planner Ann Cundy. “We come up with the list of projects that we want to see constructed or implemented, but then ultimately it's going to be the city or the department of transportation that will actually implement that project.”
SAW MPO wants to hear from you about all things transportation. You can email Cundy at firstname.lastname@example.org.
