UNC Quarterback Bryn Renner Won't Play vs. Virginia; Out for the Year

North Carolina starting quarterback Bryn Renner will not play Saturday against Virginia.  He is out for the year and will need surgery to repair a detached labrum and fracture of his non-throwing shoulder.

Renner, a fifth year senior,  suffered the injury in Saturday's game against NC State.  It means sophomore Marquise Williams will start for the Tar Heels Saturday against Virginia.  Renner and Williams had been splitting time during the last three games.

This season Williams has completed 40 of 66 passes for 537 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions.  He has 201 yards rushing with one touchdown.

Renner ranks third on UNC's all-time passing list wtih 8,221 yards passings and 668 completions.  He ranks second with 64 career touchdown passes.
