Democratic Campaigns Hit the Street in Pre-Election Push

Posted: Updated:

It's full steam ahead for Democrats, who are working hard to get supporters to the polls Tuesday.

Candidates Terry McAuliffe, Ralph Northam, and Mark Herring stopped in Richmond Monday afternoon to fire up volunteers on their last day of campaigning. Democrats have focused many of their resources on the ground game this year, hoping face-to-face interaction will help get more people to the polls.

“We've invested a lot into our field operation, the door to door, the canvassing, making the phone calls. We had in the last couple of days 12,000 volunteers on the street,” McAuliffe said.

The McAuliffe campaign says it has knocked on 1.8 million doors in the past 11 months and 275,000 doors just this weekend.
