Barnes & Noble Kicks Off Book Drive for UVA Children's Hospital
Kids in Charlottesville listened to special guests read some of their favorite stories Saturday to kick off a benefit for the University of Virginia Children's Hospital.
Pediatricians and physicians read to families at the Barnes & Noble store in Barracks Road Shopping Center for the start of this year's annual holiday book drive.
The book store is donating a portion of Saturday's sales to the hospital.
People can also come in and buy books for children in the hospital.
Jim Nataro, Pediatrician in Chief at the UVA Children's Hospital, said, "They may have to spend a long time in the hospital, so they need books. We need educational programs with them. They spend a lot of time with our staff - reading as well as playing so it's important to take care of the whole child."
The books will be used in the children's hospital inpatient facilities and outpatient clinics.
