Man Indicted on Rape, Sodomy Charges in Augusta

Posted: Updated:

The Augusta County Sheriff's Office has filed new charges against a man involved in a federal sex abuse case.

Jesse Heisserman, 34, was originally facing five charges - but prosecutors dropped them in January to allow the federal case to proceed. Court records show that the charges have been refiled since then. A grand jury certified those charges this week against Heisserman for rape, object sexual penetration, aggravated sexual battery, and forcible sodomy.

The alleged incidents go back to last August and involve a minor from another state.

Heisserman is currently in federal custody in Orange County.
