You can support a good cause and get a good scare Halloween night at the Riverheads Volunteer Fire Department haunted house in Staunton.
Organizers say the haunted house, set up right next to the station, is to help the firefighters buy new equipment and EMS supplies. The designer, Audra McCray, says both young and old can appreciate the attractions.
"There is a jack-in-the-box room, there's of course spiders, snakes. We have coffins. I don't want to give too much away,” McCray said.
The spooky fun goes from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Admission is $5. If all goes well, the department hopes to make this an annual tradition.
