'Hoos and Hokies Meet in Women's Soccer Regular Season Finale
For the first time ever in any sport, Virginia and Virginia Tech battle with each team being ranked in the top five. The 'Hoos are ranked #1. The Hokies are ranked #5.
Virginia has a record of 18-0, (12-0 in the ACC). Virginia Tech is 14-2-2 (9-2-1 in ACC)
With a win Virginia can complete the first undefeated regular season in school history.
Virginia sophomore Makenzy Doniak was asked, what's bigger... having an undefeated regular season or beating your arch rival Virginia Tech?
Doniak says, "I think they both go hand in hand. A win would be great and knock out both of those. We definitely want to go undefeated our whole season, we just need to finish it out, and not let up even though we already have the title (ACC regular season champs) so I think its important for us to keep that winning streak alive.
Virginia senior midfielder Kate Norbo says, "that's always something we have as one of our goals coming in, we want to be the best in our state of Virginia and not lose any games at our home field of Klockner so in order to achieve that goal we have a big game coming up Thursday night against Virginia Tech."
Coach Steve Swanson says, "You know the players know what this game means, I don't think this game needs any more motivation, what it needs is to make sure we're doing all the things we can to be successful, because its going to be a difficult challenge for us."
Virginia and Virginia Tech kickoff at 7pm Thursday night at Klockner Stadium.
