There is an extra incentive not to eat all of that Halloween candy this week. It could earn you some cash while bringing some much needed cheer to someone else.

Drs. Rice & Associates Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in Nellysford and Crozet will pay you $1 for each pound of candy you turn in during their Halloween Candy Buy Back on November 1. In partnership with Operation Gratitude, the candy is then packed and shipped overseas to our troops.

"This is our favorite benefit thing that we do all year and we do several, but when you can watch the video of the troops getting the candy and you're working with Operation Gratitude and they're almost up to their millionth care package, it's a good feeling,” said Jennifer Rice of Drs. Rice & Associates.

Drs. Rice & Associates also sends the troops toothbrushes and provides dental-related goodie bags for kids.

Their offices collected around 300 pounds of candy last year.
