Clark Elementary School Letter to Parents:
October 29, 2013
Dear Parents and Members of the Clark Community,
With heavy hearts, we write to confirm that Charlotte Watson, a Clark kindergarten student in Jenna Massie’s class, died yesterday. For students in kindergarten through fourth grade, there was a school meeting this morning to make sure that students heard the news in a calm, factual manner. The children of course responded with sadness but also calmness and maturity. Counselors are available to speak with any students who have questions or need to talk. A few children have already spoken with counselors, especially older students who are friends with Charlotte’s sister, Marley, a fourth-grader at Clark.
We encourage you to check with your children tonight, to answer questions, to get a sense of their own reactions, and to encourage them to remember the Watson family and all those who are touched by this tragedy. We are enclosing information that may be helpful for you in discussing this at home. If your family would like to send a card, some student artwork, or a note to the Watson family, please send it to the following address, and we will pass it on.

We will remember Charlotte for her sweet spirit, for her eagerness to learn, and for her beautiful smile. We are heartbroken by this loss, and we trust that the Clark community will be supportive of the Watson family and each another as we move forward.
If you have any questions, feel free to be in touch with Daphne Keiser or another school representative.
