Skateboarders and bikers trekked to the McIntire Park in Charlottesville to celebrate their skate park's new location.
The skate park moved to the east of McIntire Park last year when road construction demolished the previous location near the Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad building.
Charlottesville Parks and Recreation hosted Sunday's celebration.
"We get to interact with the community which is something we don't get to do often," said skate committee member Darrell Moran.
The skate park is in phase one of a two phase process. Skate committee members say the second phase will be built nearby and offer more challenges for boarders and bikers.
