Downtown Safe Halloween Festival on downtown mall
Halloween is right around the corner, but the holiday is getting started early in Charlottesville. Saturday is the annual Downtown Safe Halloween Festival on the downtown mall.
The event is a way for parents to take their children door-to-door, or business-to-business, for candy. There is a lineup of activities for the big day.
"It's going to be a great afternoon. We've got make-and-take crafts, such as witches brooms, witches hats, ghost pops. We have Virginia acrobats doing the little demonstration," said Bernie Garrison, recreation supervisor at the Charlottesville's Department of Parks and Recreation.
The event is free and open to the public. It runs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion.
