UPDATE 10/28/13: A judge denied bond for Johnathan Messer Monday morning Albemarle Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. Messer is due back in court November 25 at 10:30 a.m.
A Tennessee man facing child pornography charges following the disappearance of a teenager had his first day in court Friday.
Johnathan Messer appeared in Albemarle County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. He is facing four child pornography charges.
Messer was arrested after a 16-year-old Albemarle County girl reported she was abducted. The teen disappeared Friday night, but returned home safely Saturday morning.
Friday we learned Messer is in the Navy and was stationed at the Little Creek base near Virginia Beach, but did not learn any details regarding the case against him. Messer was arrested in Virginia Beach on Wednesday, October 23.
Messer was appointed an attorney. He is being held at Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail until a bond hearing can be held Monday morning.
