Staunton Applying for VDOT Funding for Museum Roads
STAUNTON, Va (WVIR) -
STAUNTON, Va. (AP) - The City Council in Staunton will apply for state transportation funding to build roads on Frontier Culture Museum property.
The News Leader reports the city's application to the Virginia Department of Transportation revenue sharing program will be for $1 million.
The American Frontier Culture Foundation is partnering with developer Collett and Associates LLC for a proposed $2.3 million street improvement plan to attract retail and restaurants to 42 acres of museum land near U.S 250. An agenda briefing at the city council meeting Thursday shows the partnership would pay for the rest of the road project's costs.
If the plan goes forward, the new streets would be incorporated into the city's road maintenance program.
