Move2Health Photo Contest Encourages Participants to Stay Active
Participants have until Monday to submit a picture.
The Move2Health campaign, urging central Virginians to be more active, has hit a milestone with more than a million minutes of exercise logged. Now, organizers are looking for people to get involved in a new way.
They're asking people to have a little fun with being active, by sharing their experiences through a photo contest. The goal is to encourage people to continue to get their exercise in.
Move2Health is a community-wide effort to get people to be active at least 30 minutes every day. Individuals, organizations and businesses are keeping track of how much time they spend exercising online. Now that Move2Health has hit the million minute mark, the new goal is to reach three million minutes by the end of the year.
By showing off, participants could win a prize like a $100 ACAC gift card or a four-person day pass to RockyTop.
"We definitely want people to have fun with it, and that's one of the unique things about the campaign. It's not necessarily a campaign where we're preaching at people, but we want everyone to kind of realize that things have changed and that we need to be a little more intentional about being active every day," said Elizabeth Beasley, a Move2Health partner.
Participants have until Monday to submit a picture. The top 10 finalists will have their pictures posted on the Move2Health Facebook page. Voting will take place from October 30 through November 7. A winner will be selected shortly after.
Organizers are asking for pictures to be paired with the hashtag #ThisIsHowIM2H.
