More than 5,000 events across the country Thursday celebrated National Food Day - and Staunton was one of them.
The Staunton Creative Community Fund's FEED the Valley Food Fest is a food festival with various local vendors showing what they do. FEED stands for Food Education and Entrepreneurial Development and organizers say it's about helping producers and consumers connect.
"We are the bread basket of the Shenandoah Valley, so we are the perfect place to help those food businesses start and grow," said Christina Cain, director of the Staunton Creative Community Fund.
The mission of the Staunton Creative Community Fund is to create and expand small businesses in the city and the surrounding area.
The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind hosted the event.
