JMU Men's Basketball Picked to Finish 7th in CAA, JMU Women Picked 1st
The JMU men's basketball team has been picked to finish 7th in the 9-team CAA this season by the conference coaches, SID's and media. The JMU women were picked to win the CAA.
The Dukes men are coming off their best season in two decades, which saw them win the CAA, but there has been a lot of roster turnover and JMU now has seven freshman.
Coach Matt Brady says, "I think they're all going to have their moments this year but its really difficult to win with freshmen, but with so many freshman some of them are going to have to have good seasons in order for our program to get where we want to be."
Towson was picked to win the CAA.
As for the JMU women, the Dukes return eight players from last year's squad which advanced to the WNIT quarterfinals. JMU senior Kirby Burkholder was named the CAA Preseason Player of the Year.
Coach Kenny Brooks says, "Just to watch her, her work ethic is second to none and she deserves this honor, she plays hard, she plays with passion and I'm looking forward to her stepping into a different roll this year as a leader and be able to help us reach all of her goals."
The JMU kick off the season November 8th hosting Virginia.
