Charlottesville City Council had a packed agenda Monday night that included burying Dominion Power lines and improvements on Hillsdale Drive.
Council approved an easement request from Dominion Virginia Power to bury power lines in Meadowcreek Gardens Park. Council reaffirmed its support for burying utility lines whenever feasible.
Transferring $300,000 to build a portion of Hillsdale Drive was also approved. The section approved is near the Kmart and the Homewood Suites. The goal is to stop people from cutting through Kmart to get from Hydraulic Road to the area behind the Kmart.
Council also approved aparking ticket waiver program. Driverswho are ticketed for downtown parking will get the fine waived - if it's theirfirst ticket. The city says it will takeabout three months to work out the details and implement the program.
Councilors also heard a report on efforts to find a new location for City Market.
