Suspects in Fontaine Ave. Robbery Indicted

Posted: Updated:

The case is moving forward against two robbery suspects who ended up beaten by the people they are accused of attacking.

Gerald Allen and Johnny Calderon Jr. were both indicted by a Charlottesville grand jury Monday. They each face four indictments for robbery and using a firearm.

Investigators say Allen and Calderon were attempting to rob a group of young men outside a home along Fontaine Avenue in August, when those men fought back. After the incident, Allen's eye was swollen shut and each of their faces was badly bruised. Police say they had to be taken to the hospital before going to jail.

Both will be arraigned on the charges in February.
