Cville Restaurant Donates to Different Charity Each Month
Steak Night at Sedona Taphouse
A new business in Charlottesville is already making a big difference. The Sedona Taphouse, located at 1035 Millmont Street, is only four months old, and it just set up a program to donate to a different local charity each month.
On Monday nights, the taphouse hosts a "steak out," where owners only charge $5 for a flank steak. The restaurant then donates a dollar of each purchase to the charity of the month.
Co-owner Scott Hutson says Mondays are their busiest night of the week.
"The response is great. I can be walking down the street and people stop me and thank me. On Monday morning we gave a check to the Special Olympics, Central Virginia Special Olympics, for $1,848," Hutson said.
Hutson says the original idea for the fundraiser came from founder Dennis Barbaro, who wanted a way to give back to his patrons.
This month the restaurant is sponsoring the Alzheimer's Association.
