As the temperatures continue to drop, now is a good time to review how to keep your home insulated.
The Local Energy Alliance Program, or LEAP is teaming up with Dominion Power to provide a Home Energy Check-up.
As part of the evaluation homeowners will receive advice from one of LEAP's energy coaches, energy efficient light bulb exchanges, pipe insulation, door weatherization, as well as complimentary energy-saving products.
"We're going to benchmark the house and collect information so if the homeowners decide they want to move forward there's some background information that contractors can use," says LEAP Senior Technical Advisor Guy Caroselli.
Experts say the package costs an estimated $250, but LEAP is offering it to homeowners for $45. The price drops $10 if a homeowner's neighbors also participate.
Members of neighborhood associations and community groups will also receive a $10 donation from LEAP for each Home Energy Check-up they schedule in their area.
