Boy Scouts Helping Blue Ridge Area Food Bank

Boy Scouts in central Virginia are collecting food to help feed hungry families.

Scouts went door to door in Albemarle County's Redfield's neighborhood to drop off food donation bags. They're asking people to fill those bags with non-perishable foods to donate to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.

One scout says it's a way for the troop to chip in and help the community.

"We're putting these on people's doors to help them donate food to the food bank for people who need food and this is a cool activity because you get to walk around exercising while you're actually doing something really important for the food bank," said Boy Scout Mark Cutright.

The scouts will return next Saturday to pick up the bags and drop them off at the food bank.
