Monticello HS Cornerback Aaron Dudley Breaks School Record
Friday night was a showdown of the top two teams in the Jefferson District and the Monticello Mustangs came out on top as they beat Western Albemarle 31-21.
Defense really did win this game mostly thanks to Monticello cornerback Aaron Dudley.
Dudley had three big interceptions in the 4th quarter. He intercepted Kent Henry who's arguably the best quarterback in central Virginia.
"I knew that he was going to throw it long because we didn't have much time left so I just sat back and waited on the ball and picked it off," said Dudley. He added, "It's pretty big but I couldn't have done it without my team. I picked it off and they reacted on it and I couldn't do it without them."
Dudley's three interceptions, were a school single-game record. The previous best was two, accomplished 14 times.
Dudley had never intercepted a pass until Friday's game.
