CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) - The Women's Center at the University of Virginia has received a $3 million gift to support its programs.
The university said the largest donation in the center's history is from Maxine Platzer Lynn, a 1951 alumna. Women's Center Director Sharon Davie says the endowment will benefit the center's core programs emphasizing leadership and learning.
The Women's Center's mission is aimed at educating UVA students to create change by providing programs that advocate gender equity.
UVA began to admit women to all of its schools in 1970.
