Piedmont Council for the Arts Press Release

PCA will host an exhibition of quilts by the Crescent Hall Quilters in the CitySpace Gallery  throughout November and December.

Crescent Hall is one of seven sites in the city's quilt of public housing. It was built in the  1970s for the elderly and disabled. The Crescent Hall Quilters group formed more than ten years ago, inspired by an idea from public housing resident Teresa Stinnie. She envisioned the group as a way for residents to meet one another and strengthen their community through fellowship.

Group members started out learning the basics of quilting by hand. Now, they create quilts using the most difficult patterns. This year's exhibit marks the third annual quilting exhibition by the group at CitySpace. Visitors can expect a variety of colorful quilts. All quilts are available for sale, just in time for the holidays!

A First Fridays opening reception will be held on Friday, November 1 from 5:30-7:00pm with many of the quilters present. The exhibit will be on display through December 16, 2013. The CitySpace Gallery is open to the public Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm. CitySpace is located at 100 5th Street NE on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville.
