RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia's Civil War history lesson on wheels has an ambitious schedule for 2014, after making 120 tour stops across the state since 2011.
The Civil War 150 HistoryMobile is an 18-wheel expandable tractor trailer that uses exhibit spaces to present individual stories of the Civil War from the perspective of those who experienced them, that includes free and enslaved, soldiers and civilians.
Stops scheduled next year include milestone events being marked during the sesquicentennial of the Civil War. They include Spotsylvania Court House, New Market in Shenandoah County and the Crater in Petersburg, among others.
The HistoryMobile made its debut in 2011 at Manassas National Battlefield. Since then some 130,000 visitors have enjoyed the mobile museum. The full schedule can be found at www.HistoryMobile.org.
