Charlottesville High School senior Chris Thurston has been named the Falcon Club Player of the Week.
Thurston, who usually plays running back, played mostly at quarterback for the Knights Friday against Orange. He rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns in the Black Knights 47-14 win over the Hornets. Thurston also threw two touchdown passes and had a two point conversion.
"It feels good," says Thurston. "I feel honored, I feel like an all-star in Charlottesville right now. I won homecoming king, which made it also feel better. I don't want to get too big-headed, I want to stay level out here, but with all my teammates boosting me up its hard to do that. It was me, but mostly my team."
Thurston is expected to start at quarterback for the Black Knights in their game at Albemarle Friday.
