Chopra, Huffington Lead Meditation at UVA

Posted: Updated:

A spiritual leader and a blog editor named one of the world's most powerful women are encouraging University of Virginia students to find focus through reflection. Deepak Chopra and Arianna Huffington led a meditation on the lawn Tuesday afternoon.

The pair encouraged students to apply meditation and self-awareness to all aspects of their lives.

Chopra and Huffington are guests of the University of Virginia's Contemplative Sciences Center.

"Both of us are really excited that such a center exists and is doing such pioneering work bringing together spiritual traditions and modern science," said Huffington, editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post.

"I see the opportunity of bringing it back to academia because, as Arianna said, there's a new listening to integrate some of the sciences with more holistic practices," said Chopra.

Chopra told the hundreds of people who rolled out their yoga mats on the lawn that the 10-minute meditation can change their lives forever.
