Monticello Running Back Kyree Koonce Out for the Season
Monticello High School running back Kyree Koonce had surgery on Monday to repair a broken leg. Koonce suffered the injury ten days ago in the Mustangs win over Charlottesville.
Monticello has a record of 6-0 and is gearig up for a big game this Friday against 6-0 Western Albemarle.
The injury to Koonce did not slow the Mustangs down this past Friday, beating Fluvanna 48-0.
On Monday, Monticello coach Jeff Woody talked about the Mustangs' plan going forward.
Woody said, "he's a game changer. What he brings to the table goes unmatched in high school football. With him stepping down, it's a situation where the next man needs to step up. Plays that used to go for 60 yards and a touchdown may not. We'll just pick up the good healthy yardage we can get."
