Seventh Annual Fall Classic Held in Charlottesville
Nearly 700 runners took off from downtown Charlottesville Sunday morning for the seventh annual Fall Classic, now a 10K and half marathon.
Both races stretched over some of the most scenic areas of the city. Participants bolted through some of the Charlottesville's older neighborhoods and along the Rivanna River.
The race director says running has exploded in central Virginia over the last few years.
"Active people love that opportunity to go somewhere beautiful but then be active in that place, and that's really what Charlottesville represents and that's what we are seeing here today," James Gill, race director, said.
