A historic landmark in Keswick is being restored.
The St. John Elementary School used to be a place where blacks were allowed to get an education. Some of the students are still alive to see it become the St. John Family and Fitness Center.
Once completed, the Center will be a community space with rooms for banquets and events.
To celebrate, a fall festival will raise awareness and money to help finish the restoration of the building. The fundraising festival is Saturday on 1711 St. John Road.
The restorations are expected to cost $250,000.
