UPDATE 10/21/2013: A grand jury has indicted Richard Hawkins on the bank robbery charge. Hawkins is expected back in court on November 20.
ORIGINAL - 10/10/2013: A grand jury will hear the case against the man accused of robbing a bank in Charlottesville.
Richard Hawkins III is charged with robbing the United Bank on the downtown mall on June 17. A cab company alleges Hawkins fled the scene in a cab to a location outside of Charlottesville. He was arrested June 23 in Augusta County.
Hawkins waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday in Charlottesville General District Court. The case goes to the grand jury October 21.
He is currently being held at Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.
