Albemarle Considers Privatizing Trash, Recycling Collection

Posted: Updated:

Albemarle County supervisors are developing plans to privatize trash and recycling collection.

The board is inviting the public to weigh in on a proposal to close the Ivy Transfer Station and cut ties with the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority.

The county would contract with van der Linde Recycling to operate three convenience centers, the first of which would open by next July in Keene.

Supervisors will collect community feedback on the convenience centers at an open house Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Albemarle County Office Building.
