Martha's Market Reaches Milestone for 20th Anniversary
Martha's Market at John Paul Jones Arena
An annual market in Charlottesville has reached a milestone for its 20th anniversary.
Martha's Market organizers say this weekend's sales allowed them to surpass $4 million in donations over the past two decades. Fifteen cents of every dollar spent at the event benefits women's health care programs at Martha Jefferson Hospital.
"Cancer touches so many lives of so many women. It's a wonderful event. It provides support for the women that are going through that and there are just so many women who have been touched by cancer, so many families," Terri Bailey, Women's Committee chair, said.
Eighty-five vendors set up shop at the John Paul Jones Arena this weekend to sell items - including jewelry, clothing and food.
This year, organizers opened up the top level of arena for the first time to accommodate more business.
