Stellar First Half Helps Lift Virginia Tech Football 27-17 Over UNC

Posted: Updated:

Thanks to a strong first half performance, the Virginia Tech Football team pulled out a 27-17 win over North Carolina at their homecoming game Saturday at Lane Stadium.

Logan Thomas threw three first half touchdown passes to provide nice cushion going into the second half.

The Hokies improve to 5-1 and 2-0 in the ACC.

Thomas went 19-for-28 for 293 yards, hitting D.J. Coles twice for touchdowns and Demitri Knowles for another.

Thomas also moved past Tyrod Taylor to be Virginia Tech's all-time passing yardage leader in the first quarter. Now the Hokie senior has a total of 7,308 career passing yards.

Virginia Tech continues action next week as they host ACC newbie Pittsburgh at noon at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg.
