Central VA Free Clinics Recognized on "Free Clinic Awareness Day"
Free clinics across the
commonwealth are being recognized for their service Friday. Governor Bob McDonnell
declared October 4 "Free Clinic Awareness Day" in Virginia.
This proclamation was also
announced to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Virginia Association of
Free and Charitable Clinics.
The Charlottesville Free Clinic says even
with the questions surrounding health care reform, they are focused on
providing quality services.
think everyone is focused on the unknowns and while there are a lot of
unknowns, we're really focused on what we do know which is that our patients
need our services today and that need isn't going to go away tomorrow," said
Erika Viccellio of the Charlottesville Free Clinic.
There are more than 60 free
clinics in the state.
Around 500 volunteers work at the Charlottesville
Free Clinic to provide care for more than 3,300 patients.
