Grand Jury to Hear Charlottesville Attempted Robbery Case

Posted: Updated:

The case against a pair of robbery suspects - who had the tables turned on them - is moving forward. The preliminary hearing for Gerald Allen and Johnny Calderon Jr. got underway Thursday afternoon in Charlottesville General District Court.

Calderon, 19, is facing four charges: two for attempted robbery, one for pointing a firearm and one for using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Allen, 18, is facing a pair of attempted robbery charges.

Investigators say the men attempted to rob a group of young men outside a home along Fontaine Avenue - when those men fought back.

Those men testified Thursday in court. The judge certified all of the charges against Allen and Calderon to a grand jury.
