City of Charlottesville Press Release

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA - On Tuesday, October 8th, 2013 from 9am to 3pm at John Paul Jones Arena, job seekers will have an exclusive opportunity to network and discover how they can move up the career ladder. The Career Conference will be an all-day event focusing on how job seekers can market themselves to top employers in the local community. For the first time, the Career Conference will also host the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce's Business Expo, giving job seekers the opportunity to learn about open positions in Charlottesville, as well as connect with professionals in the business community.

In addition to opportunities for one-on-one interactions with company representatives at their employer booths, job seekers will also have a chance to network with employers through a series of panel discussions on several of the

major industries in the Charlottesville area. These discussions will be led by industry experts from some of the most prominent companies in Charlottesville (Adams & Garth, Adecco, the City of Charlottesville, Home Instead, Interim Healthcare, Liberty Mutual, and the Daily Progress to name a few). Educational institutions such as Piedmont Virginia Community College and National College will also be onsite to talk to job seekers about enrichment opportunities in our area pertaining to these industries.

Additionally, the career conference will feature a job seeker resource area, co-sponsored by the Daily Progress and Monster.com. Throughout the day, attendees can visit the resource area to get help with résumé review, interviewing, online job searching, etc. Community non-profits will also be available to offer information on products and services available to attendees.

The career conference is free and open to the public. However, pre-registration is highly encouraged. For more information or to pre-register, CLICK HERE.
