A school in Charlottesville is kicking off an innovative learning program for its students Monday.
Buford Middle School was the first public school in Virginia to open an engineering lab. Monday, the school hosted an open house to debut its Engineering Design Academy. The academy is a partnership with the University of Virginia's School of Engineering and the Curry School of Education.
The project is the first of its kind and pairs college professors with Buford Middle teachers and students. The engineering lab allows students to explore advanced technologies, such as 3-D printing.
The open house at Buford will last until 7:30 p.m. Monday.
